It all started in ‘98
At a place with a bog for a lake
But we ran out of jugs of wine
And kept seeing mice all the time
And can you remember Wild Rose?
It all seems so long, long ago
The home of the Great Ritardo
And the chip holder we should’ve stole
Next year we headed out west
The dinners on the deck were the best
But one pot is never enough
And rebuilding walls is too tough
But the house doesn’t matter
Cause Cabinweek’s always home
Found Lake was a pretty good find
In his boxer shorts Warren didn’t mind
But Cropsey was a pretty good spy
And some pretty farty trees – according to Bill Nye
Then there was old Echo Lake
I can hardly remember the place
Except for the logs and the stairs
Don’t look for the beach cause it’s not really there
Finally we met up with old Ray
And settled in for a seven year stay
Do you mind if I chop de wood
I’d unpack your bags if I could
I’ll keep it brief cause I got my own song
The pier’s mighty short but that road is so damn long
But the house doesn’t matter
Cause Cabinweek’s always home
Kildare’s already known for the tile and its deck
A great indoor fire but that kitchen was a wreck
The home of the 2012 games
And the boat man with the grease – wish I knew his name
Then we did Bladder seven times
We learned the proper way to finish box wine
The home of the happy hour cruise
And a nice cold porch to chill all your booze
But the house doesn’t matter
Cause Cabinweek’s always home
And I’m not just trying to make you cry
But it’s 25 years gone by
And we gotta make sure
We don’t forget the ride
Then in 2020 came COVID times
When we need it most – Cabinweek was denied
At home on our screens, we soldiered on
And just for one week, 2020 didn’t seem quite so long…
So now we’re back for year number four
With a nice quiet lake and leeches no more
A pretty big yard and a pretty short road
But if you’re sleeping downstairs watch out for the toads
It’s Beaver Lake now but next year who knows
For year twenty-six, just tell me where to go…
